Often people are preparing to buy a home, and they are not prepared, they are completely surprised when they did not budget for potentially thousands of dollars worth of closing costs.
So what are closing costs? They are the various fees that buyers and sellers pay at closing. These fees can include, but are not limited to escrow fees, title insurance, loan origination fees, transfer taxes, pre-paid homeowner's insurance.
Whether you're looking to buy or sell, don't be surprised last minute that these fees will come up and need to be paid at closing. Don't worry though, great lenders and realtors will make sure you are fully prepared ahead of time and you know all your numbers.
